The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development has reassured Ugandans that the country\u2019s fuel supply remains stable despite escalating instability in the Middle East. Concerns have been raised about potential disruptions to global petroleum supply routes, particularly shipments passing through the Strait of Hormuz between Iran and Oman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a joint statement with the Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC), the Ministry confirmed that authorities are closely monitoring international developments to safeguard Uganda\u2019s petroleum supply chain. UNOC, working alongside its supply partner Vitol, has implemented proactive measures to prevent any interruption in fuel imports. The company emphasized that its procurement strategy does not rely on a single sourcing region, allowing flexibility to reroute cargoes through alternative supply channels if needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Scheduled fuel shipments for March 2026 remain on track, supported by contingency arrangements designed to cushion the country from immediate supply shocks. Officials have assured the public that, with consistent inflows expected, pump prices are projected to remain relatively stable in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking on the matter, Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu, Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I wish to reassure all Ugandans that our fuel supply remains stable despite the recent developments in the Middle East. Together with UNOC and our supply partner Vitol, we are closely monitoring the situation and have put in place contingency measures to ensure uninterrupted deliveries. Scheduled cargoes for March 2026 remain on course, and we expect pump prices to remain relatively stable. Ugandans should remain calm. Government remains fully committed to safeguarding national energy security and ensuring a reliable supply of petroleum products across the country.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
