President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has met the High Command of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) to review the country\u2019s security situation and assess strategic national priorities, reaffirming government\u2019s commitment to strengthening Uganda\u2019s defence capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Museveni said the meeting focused on evaluating the prevailing security environment and aligning the military\u2019s strategic objectives with the country\u2019s broader development agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI met with the High Command of the UPDF to review our security situation and the strategic priorities of our country,\u201d Museveni said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The President commended the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), senior officers and rank-and-file soldiers for what he described as discipline, professionalism and unwavering commitment to safeguarding Uganda\u2019s peace and sovereignty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI thank the CDF and all officers and men of the UPDF and commend them for their discipline, professionalism and unwavering commitment to safeguarding Uganda\u2019s peace and sovereignty,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Museveni emphasized that Uganda\u2019s continued stability is anchored on vigilance, unity and patriotism, noting that these principles remain central to the country\u2019s security doctrine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that government will continue investing in strengthening defence capacity to ensure that Uganda remains secure while maintaining focus on social and economic transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting comes at a time when regional security dynamics and internal stability remain key considerations for the government, with the UPDF playing a critical role in both national defence and regional peace support operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Uganda has in recent years maintained an active military presence in regional missions, while also undertaking internal security operations aimed at countering emerging threats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
