Mrs. Urasa Mongkolnavin, Director General at Thailand\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, revealed that several Thai tour operators who visited Uganda on a 2024 familiarisation trip are already rolling out new Uganda packages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese companies are now bringing Thai tourists to experience Uganda\u2019s unique experiential tourism,\u201d she said, describing Uganda as a destination with \u201crare authenticity and unforgettable encounters.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A Country Built for Adventure, Nature and Culture<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>At the expo, Uganda showcased why it has long been called the <strong>\u201cPearl of Africa.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Travel stakeholders highlighted:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Gorilla and chimpanzee trekking<\/strong> in Bwindi and Kibale<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Source of the Nile<\/strong>, offering white-water rafting, kayaking and bungee jumping<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Classic African safaris<\/strong> in Murchison Falls, Queen Elizabeth and Kidepo Valley National Parks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Birding trails<\/strong> featuring more than 1,000 species<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cultural tourism<\/strong> enriched by diverse traditions, crafts and cuisine<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Ugandan officials invited Thai travel brands to invest in new lodges, tour packages, wellness retreats, eco-tourism ventures and luxury safari experiences \u2014 sectors with rising demand among Asia\u2019s adventure-seeking travellers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Strengthening Asia\u2013Africa Tourism Links<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Uganda\u2019s High Commissioner to Malaysia and Thailand, Amb. Betty Bigombe, told attendees that Uganda\u2019s increasing visibility in Southeast Asia is yielding results. She noted that trade and tourism interest from Thailand has grown, supported by Uganda\u2019s stability and expanding air connectivity through regional hubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur tourism offering is authentic, diverse and adventure-filled \u2014 and Thailand is a growing market for that,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Uganda\u2019s delegation, made up of officials from tourism bodies and private operators, engaged Thai partners in B2B meetings, product showcases and destination briefings aimed at expanding Uganda\u2019s footprint in the Thai and wider ASEAN travel market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Uganda\u2013Thailand Tourism Momentum Rising<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>With Thailand relaunching the Thailand\u2013Africa Initiative (TAI) to deepen ties with African destinations, both governments view tourism as a prime avenue for cooperation.
