President Yoweri Museveni has wrapped up his campaign tour in Busoga, outlining achievements in peace, infrastructure, social services, and wealth creation\u2014signaling his readiness to shift the campaign focus to Kigezi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During his final rally in Jinja, Museveni said Busoga\u2019s progress mirrors the core foundations on which the NRM has built the country. He recalled a time when the region suffered from insurgent activity, including the advance of Alice Lakwena\u2019s rebels into areas like Magamaga and Busede. \u201cWe secured the whole country. That was Uganda\u2019s first pillar,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He highlighted major government investment in regional infrastructure, referencing upgrades on the Jinja\u2013Tororo road, the Jinja\u2013Kampala highway, and earlier works on the Jinja\u2013Kamuli road. He further announced that funds have been secured to construct the long-awaited Jinja\u2013Budondo\u2013Mbulamuti\u2013Kamuli road, explaining that the delay had been caused by competing national priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Museveni stressed the importance of prioritisation, saying that when demands are too many, resources are spread thin and progress slows\u2014an approach he said guided the NRM even during the bush war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On social services, Museveni pointed out improvements in education, noting that Jinja District and Jinja City have over 70 government primary schools and 20 government secondary schools. He urged more equitable distribution of schools so every parish has at least one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Regarding healthcare, he reported that every sub-county in Jinja District and Jinja City now has operational health facilities, ranging from HC IIIs to the regional referral hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The President placed strong focus on household wealth creation, calling it the \u201cthird pillar\u201d of Uganda\u2019s transformation. He encouraged families to embrace the four-acre model and tap into programmes like the Parish Development Model, Operation Wealth Creation, and MYOGAs. He added that even urban youth can prosper through skills training, citing success stories from tailoring, metalwork, and other trades in skilling hubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Museveni also emphasized industrialisation as the \u201cfourth pillar,\u201d noting that factories in Busoga are generating thousands of jobs and reshaping the region\u2019s economic outlook. He pledged to tackle concerns around corruption in factory recruitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
