President Yoweri Museveni on Tuesday presented the National Resistance Movement (NRM)\u2019s 2026\u20132031 priorities to voters in Buyende District, urging residents to support the party\u2019s candidates as he outlined progress in infrastructure, health, and education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was joined by the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni, who opened the gathering with a call for continued unity and the preservation of Uganda\u2019s hard-earned peace. She reminded citizens that Uganda\u2019s difficult history should motivate them to protect the stability restored under the NRM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cUganda endured many painful years, but by God\u2019s grace, peace and unity were restored,\u201d she said, encouraging all eligible voters to participate in the upcoming elections and strengthen the foundation of a peaceful future for the next generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President Museveni applauded Buyende residents for their mobilisation efforts, saying the NRM\u2019s four decades in leadership are anchored in a tradition of action and resilience. He highlighted the party\u2019s \u201cmatofali\u201d\u2014the foundational blocks of national transformation\u2014beginning with the restoration of security and the defeat of rebel groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He credited strong national institutions such as the UPDF, Parliament, the Judiciary, the civil service, and the Police for sustaining peace and stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The President also outlined development achievements as the second pillar of the NRM\u2019s mission, pointing to improvements in the road network, schools, health centres, and other social services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Buyende District currently has 92 government primary schools across 73 parishes, though 36 parishes remain without one. Museveni said government will address the imbalance, while the number of government secondary schools will be increased so each sub-county has at least one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On health services, he revealed plans to upgrade Kampul and Nkone Health Centre IIs to Health Centre IIIs, and to construct new HC IIIs in Gumpi, Buyanja, and other underserved areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Museveni revisited his long-standing message on household income, reminding residents that community development must translate into family prosperity. He encouraged families to embrace productive enterprises under the four-acre model introduced in the 1996 manifesto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the 2026\u20132031 manifesto will focus on strengthening peace, completing infrastructure projects, and expanding wealth creation initiatives. Museveni asked Buyende voters to renew the NRM\u2019s mandate so these plans can be fully realised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
NRM First National Vice Chairperson, Al-Hajji Moses Kigongo, urged party members to uphold discipline and unity as the 2026 general elections draw nearer. He said strong internal cohesion and massive mobilisation will be key to ensuring the NRM wins \u201cfrom top to bottom.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Moses Magogo, Buyende\u2019s NRM district chairperson and MP for Budiope East, thanked the President for the ongoing government programmes in the district and the wider Busoga region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
