The Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, Hon. Frank Tumwebaze, has officially been nominated by the Electoral Commission to defend his Kibale East parliamentary seat in the forthcoming 2026 General Elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tumwebaze\u2019s nomination took place at 10:26 a.m. at the Kamwenge District Electoral Commission offices, under the supervision of District Returning Officer William Magezi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Minister, who was accompanied by his wife Florence Tumwebaze and a crowd of elated supporters, expressed heartfelt appreciation to his campaign team and constituents for their continued support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI want to thank all my supporters and the people of Kibale East for the trust and encouragement you\u2019ve shown me,\u201d Tumwebaze said shortly after his nomination. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLet us now focus on mobilizing for all NRM candidates, including President Yoweri Museveni. This is the time to strengthen our unity and ensure total victory for the Movement.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other candidates cleared to contest for the Kibale East seat include Nathan Twijukye Aggrey Natuhamya and Mugisha Chrispus, both running as independents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the Woman Member of Parliament race, Sylvia Baherira Tumwekwatse was nominated at 12:42 p.m. as the NRM flag bearer, pledging to conduct an inclusive, grassroots-driven campaign focused on consolidating NRM support across Kamwenge District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI am fully committed to canvassing for votes not only for myself but also for President Museveni and the entire NRM team,\u201d Baherira said. \u201cWe shall reach every corner of Kamwenge to ensure our people appreciate the progress made and the work still ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Baherira will face Dorothy Azairwe Nshaija, an independent and former Woman MP for Kamwenge, and Patience Kyomugisha, representing the National Unity Platform (NUP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, the Kibale County race has attracted four contenders: Eng. Cuthbert Abigaba Mirembe (NRM), Brig. Gen. (Rtd) Charles Kisembo, Naturinda Elijah, and Moses Bakesiga, all running as independents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
District Returning Officer William Magezi commended candidates and supporters for maintaining calm and discipline during the exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have so far registered a smooth nomination process, with all candidates and their supporters adhering to the Electoral Commission guidelines,\u201d Magezi noted. \u201cWe urge everyone to uphold peace as we move into the campaign period.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
