Uganda marked its National Day at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka with pomp and purpose as Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja led celebrations that spotlighted Uganda\u2019s growing economic partnership with Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event, attended by top Japanese officials, business leaders, diplomats, and Expo visitors, showcased Uganda\u2019s transformation into one of Africa\u2019s most promising investment destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Representing the Government of Japan was Mr. Yoshitaka Ito, Minister in charge of the World Expo 2025, who commended Uganda for its dynamic participation and cultural display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Delivering President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni\u2019s message, Prime Minister Nabbanja thanked Japan for its warm hospitality and praised the Expo\u2019s theme, \u201cEmpowering Lives,\u201d<\/em> which she said aligns perfectly with Uganda\u2019s vision to uplift communities and create opportunities for its youth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe friendship between Uganda and Japan continues to bear fruit \u2014 from investment to innovation,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nabbanja outlined several recent milestones under Uganda-Japan cooperation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Prime Minister invited more Japanese investors to explore Uganda\u2019s expanding opportunities, citing peace, political stability, and a strong growth trajectory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cUganda is one of the fastest-growing economies in the world and a strategic gateway to Africa\u2019s vast markets,\u201d she said, while unveiling the country\u2019s Tenfold Growth Strategy to grow the economy to USD 500 billion by 2040.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She identified key priority sectors including Agro-industrialisation, Tourism, Mineral Development, Oil and Gas, and Science, Technology, and Innovation, reaffirming government\u2019s support for investors through favourable policies and infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In a memorable close, Nabbanja greeted the Japanese audience in their language, saying, \u201cMinna-san, Uganda e y\u014dkoso!\u201d<\/em> (Everyone, welcome to Uganda!), sparking warm applause from the crowd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The event was crowned by a stunning performance from Uganda\u2019s Ndere Troupe, whose blend of rhythm, dance, and storytelling left the audience spellbound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Uganda National Day celebration at the Osaka World Expo underscored a deepening partnership \u2014 one that promises stronger trade, innovation, and mutual prosperity between Kampala and Tokyo.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Uganda marked its National Day at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka with pomp and purpose as Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja led celebrations that spotlighted Uganda\u2019s growing economic partnership with Japan.
