Thousands of Ugandans thronged the Kololo Independence Grounds and major towns across the country today to participate in the 14th edition of the Rotary Cancer Run, reaffirming their collective commitment to the fight against cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This year\u2019s run, held under the theme \u201cMany Cancers, One Race\u201d, seeks to raise funds for the completion of two bunkers at the Rotary Cancer Centre, Nsambya Hospital, which will house state-of-the-art Linear Accelerator (LINAC) machines. Officials noted that the project marks a major milestone in expanding access to advanced cancer treatment in Uganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Centenary Bank once again demonstrated its unwavering partnership with Rotary International by serving as a platinum sponsor of this year\u2019s run, contributing over UGX 600 million towards the bunkers project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As Uganda\u2019s largest indigenous bank, Centenary has been a dedicated partner since the inception of the Rotary Cancer Run, donating more than UGX 3 billion over 14 editions and actively supporting nationwide cancer awareness initiatives. Beyond the run, the bank has participated in more than 150 health camps, helping to provide critical medical services in underserved communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The bank\u2019s contributions extend to other Rotary-driven programs, including malaria prevention, peace initiatives, tree planting, blood donation drives, youth empowerment programs like Vijana Powa, and the establishment of the Rotary\u2013Centenary Bank Cancer Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking at the run, Dr. Fabian Kasi, Managing Director of Centenary Bank, expressed appreciation to all participants and partners: \u201cYou have given institutions like Centenary Bank the opportunity to make a real difference in the health sector, especially in the fight against cancer. This year, we were honoured to support and participate in the nationwide medical camps organised prior to the run, where communities benefitted from health checks, cancer awareness education, and blood donation drives. Social responsibility is embedded in our DNA, and the Rotary Cancer Run continues to inspire collective action for a healthier Uganda.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He reaffirmed Centenary Bank\u2019s commitment to dedicate 2% of its annual net profit towards corporate social investment initiatives in health, education, environmental sustainability, and community development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Adding to the day\u2019s success was C-Care Uganda, which served as the official medical partner. Its medical teams provided first aid, hydration, emergency care, and post-run wellness checks to ensure the safety of all participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sheila Aboth, Head of Brand and Client Experience at C-Care Uganda, praised the spirit of unity: \u201cThe energy here today is truly electric. For C-Care, being the medical partner is about standing shoulder-to-shoulder with every runner, survivor, and family touched by cancer.
