Uganda and China have reaffirmed their commitment to regional peace and development during bilateral talks held ahead of the upcoming Third Horn of Africa Peace Conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting, which took place on June 17 in Kampala, brought together Hon. John Mulimba, Uganda\u2019s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in charge of Regional Affairs, and H.E. Xue Bing, China\u2019s Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The two diplomats discussed preparations for the Peace Conference, which is scheduled to take place in Kampala at the end of July 2025. They emphasized inclusive dialogue, political stability, and regional cooperation as key pillars for peace and sustainable development in the Horn of Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
H.E. Xue Bing praised Uganda\u2019s contribution to regional peace and described China\u2019s relationship with Uganda as strong and longstanding. \u201cWe are optimistic that the upcoming conference will yield tangible results that will benefit the entire region,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hon. Mulimba welcomed China\u2019s continued support toward Uganda\u2019s development agenda, highlighting ongoing collaboration in the digital economy, agricultural value addition and agro-processing, infrastructure, and industrial manufacturing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both parties also explored expanding cooperation under the Beijing Implementation Framework and acknowledged Uganda\u2019s key role in China-Africa relations this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting concluded with a mutual pledge to strengthen bilateral relations and work jointly toward addressing regional security challenges and promoting a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Horn of Africa.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
