David Bahati, Minister of State for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives (Industry), and is expected to attract major stakeholders from both the public and private sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Held under the theme <em>\u201cInnovative Financing Solutions for a Sustainable Manufacturing Sector,\u201d<\/em> the symposium aims to address one of the most persistent hurdles facing local manufacturers: access to affordable, long-term, and tailored capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<strong>As UMA, we recognize that unlocking innovative and long-term financing options is central to building a resilient and competitive manufacturing sector.<\/strong> This symposium is more than a conversation\u2014it\u2019s a catalyst for partnerships, policy action, and financial solutions that align with the real needs of our manufacturers. We must move beyond short-term credit and begin embracing instruments that fuel sustainable industrial transformation,\u201d said <strong>Dr. Ezra Muhumuza Rubanda<\/strong>, Executive Director of the Uganda Manufacturers Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event is backed by major financial institutions, including <strong>Absa Bank Uganda<\/strong>, the <strong>Capital Markets Authority (CMA)<\/strong>, and <strong>Centenary Bank<\/strong>. It comes at a critical time when Uganda\u2019s manufacturing sector is grappling with global supply chain disruptions, surging production costs, and growing demands for adherence to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many local manufacturers\u2014particularly <strong>Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)<\/strong>\u2014continue to struggle with high interest rates, restrictive collateral demands, and a lack of financing instruments tailored to their sector. The symposium aims to explore financing pathways that not only support business growth but also encourage environmentally responsible practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<strong>At CMA, we believe manufacturers have untapped potential to access long-term, non-bank financing through the capital markets.<\/strong> Instruments such as corporate bonds, equity, REITs, and private equity offer sustainable alternatives to traditional loans\u2014empowering manufacturers to scale, innovate, and compete globally,\u201d said <strong>Lyn Tukei<\/strong>, Communications and PR Manager at the Capital Markets Authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<strong>Capital markets are not just for large corporations\u2014they are a strategic financing solution for Uganda\u2019s manufacturing sector, especially for those seeking growth capital without over-reliance on banks.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two-day forum will feature panel discussions and keynote addresses on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Access to Affordable Credit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sustainable Finance Options<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Innovative Financing Models<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Role of Government and Policy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fintech and Digital Financial Services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For participants, the symposium offers a valuable opportunity to engage with policymakers, financiers, and industry leaders.
