One person has been confirmed dead and six others seriously injured following a tragic road crash that occurred on the evening of May 25, 2025, at Lwafumu Forest along the Bunjako\u2013Buwama road in Mpigi District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Uganda Police Traffic Spokesperson ASP Michael Kananura, the crash took place at around 5:45 PM and involved a motor vehicle registration number UBM 672G<\/strong>, commonly referred to as a “Drone”. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene and remains at large.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Preliminary investigations by the traffic police reveal that the driver was speeding and carrying passengers in a dangerously unsafe manner. The vehicle reportedly lost control, struck a pavement, and overturned, killing one passenger instantly and injuring six others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n ASP Kananura disclosed that the same vehicle had earlier been flagged at Lungala, Mpigi, alongside three others \u2014 UBG 649K, UBM 631E, and UAR 351Z<\/strong> \u2014 for multiple traffic violations. These included operating without a valid license, carrying passengers in prohibited positions, reckless driving, and having obscured number plates. While some drivers were arrested and detained at Mpigi Police Station, the driver of UBM 672G and others defied police stop orders and continued driving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis incident underscores the serious consequences of defying police directives.
