Speaking at the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE) in Kampala, Nakalema introduced the Electronic Investors\u2019 Protection Portal (EIPP) as a vital tool for enhancing investor experience and combating corruption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe EIPP allows investors to conduct due diligence digitally, minimizing human interaction with government agencies,\u201d she said. \u201cThis streamlines processes, enhances transparency, and ensures a secure and efficient investment environment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The three-day annual event brought together tour operators, travel agents, hospitality stakeholders, and global investors, positioning Uganda as a key destination for tourism investment and cultural exploration under the banner \u201cThe Pearl of Africa.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nakalema\u2019s remarks come amid growing government efforts to create a corruption-free and business-friendly environment, particularly in sectors like tourism, where foreign investment is critical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Doreen Katusiime, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, highlighted Uganda\u2019s tourism potential and recent milestones in sector development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are committed to strengthening regional tourism collaboration and exploring new investment opportunities,\u201d she said. \u201cPartnerships like those within the East African Community (EAC) are crucial for boosting Uganda\u2019s appeal as a global destination.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tourism entrepreneur Amos Wekesa, a long-standing advocate for Uganda\u2019s travel industry, echoed the significance of POATE as a platform for sustainable tourism growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis expo is a strategic gateway for showcasing Uganda\u2019s biodiversity, cultural heritage, and investment opportunities,\u201d said Wekesa. \u201cIt connects local businesses with international partners and drives long-term sector development.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wekesa\u2019s participation, alongside other key players, underscored the expo\u2019s role in forging meaningful collaborations to elevate Uganda\u2019s tourism profile globally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The POATE 2025 concluded with renewed commitments to digital transformation, regional integration, and sustainable tourism investments, reinforcing Uganda\u2019s ambition to become a leading destination in Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
