The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission has postponed internal elections in four areas ahead of Friday\u2019s scheduled nationwide polls to elect party structures at the District and City levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a statement issued by NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson, Dr. Tanga Odoi, the elections have been suspended in the Bunyoro sub-region<\/strong>, Luweero<\/strong>, Nakasongola<\/strong>, Nakaseke<\/strong>, Arua City<\/strong>, and Amolatar District<\/strong> due to various logistical and administrative reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The commission cited President Yoweri Museveni\u2019s official visit<\/strong> to the Bunyoro sub-region and the districts of Luweero, Nakasongola, and Nakaseke as the reason for suspending elections in those areas. The President’s tour has been prioritized, with local party activities rescheduled to accommodate the Head of State\u2019s engagements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In Arua City<\/strong>, elections were halted following a petition related to Ayivu<\/strong>, which is under review. Meanwhile, in Amolatar District<\/strong>, the process was suspended after the electoral body reported that delegates could not be traced<\/strong>, compromising the legitimacy and inclusiveness of the vote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dr. Odoi did not specify when elections in the affected areas would be held but affirmed the party’s commitment to conducting free, fair, and organized internal polls.
