Vice President, Maj. (Rtd) Jessica Rose Alupo, has been elected Chairperson of the Veterans under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) structures in Oigo Imumwa village, Katakwi District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Alupo secured a landslide victory in the just-concluded NRM village-level elections, garnering 307 votes against her sole opponent, Charles Alongu, who received only 5 votes. The elections are part of the broader NRM grassroots exercise conducted in over 72,000 villages across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In her victory speech, Alupo expressed gratitude to the residents for their trust and participation in what she described as a free and fair electoral process. \u201cI sincerely thank the people of Oigo Imumwa village for electing me\u2026 this is the kind of democracy the government and His Excellency the President have been preaching,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Alupo also used the platform to emphasize the role of government programs such as the Parish Development Model, Emyooga, and the Youth Livelihood Programme in transforming rural livelihoods.

She announced the start of construction on the Achinga Bridge, which will link Katakwi and Kapelebyong districts, boosting trade and access to markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Vice President issued a warning to politicians, urging them to refrain from vote buying. \u201cBuying votes discourages people from electing the right leaders and promotes chaos,\u201d she cautioned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fred Jachan Omach, Vice Chairperson of the NRM Electoral Commission, commended Oigo Imumwa for conducting peaceful and well-organized elections. He reminded newly elected leaders of their mandate to mobilize support for the NRM and President Yoweri Museveni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
