In a powerful demonstration of corporate responsibility, Stanbic Bank Uganda has extended a lifeline to maternal and emergency healthcare in Masaka District with a donation of medical equipment valued at UGX 25 million to Mpugwe Health Center III.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The package includes three delivery beds, two oxygen concentrators, and 100 Mama Kits\u2014critical tools identified by the facility to improve maternal care and emergency response. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
These items are expected to significantly ease the pressure on the overburdened Masaka Referral Hospital and support more than 14,000 people in the surrounding community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Stanbic Bank Uganda Chief Executive Mr. Mumba Kenneth Kalifungwa underscored the bank’s commitment to improving healthcare access as part of its broader Corporate Social Investment (CSI) agenda. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA healthy population is the bedrock of a thriving economy,\u201d Kalifungwa stated. \u201cBy investing in health, we are investing in the productivity and prosperity of Ugandans.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This initiative aligns with Stanbic\u2019s CSI strategy focused on Health, Education, and the Environment\u2014with an emphasis on empowering women, youth, and farmers\u2014and supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Local leaders and health officials welcomed the gesture with enthusiasm. Masaka Resident City Commissioner Hajji Ahamada Washaki hailed the donation as a model of effective private-public collaboration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is corporate citizenship at its finest,\u201d he said, urging the health center to safeguard the valuable contribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mpugwe Health Center in-charge Nassolo Victoria called the donation a game changer. \u201cStanbic has helped us offset a quarter of our annual budget,\u201d she revealed. \u201cThis allows us to reallocate resources to other urgent needs. We\u2019re deeply grateful.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The bank\u2019s support didn\u2019t end there. After touring the facility and observing current limitations firsthand, Mr. Kalifungwa pledged to donate a baby warmer, responding to a dire need he witnessed in the neonatal care section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Strategically located on the Mombasa-Kampala-Mbarara-Kigali Highway, Mpugwe Health Center also serves accident victims and patients from neighboring regions and countries such as Tanzania, Rwanda, and the DRC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The donation not only supports local health outcomes but also strengthens the regional healthcare safety net.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
