President Yoweri Museveni has encouraged all the key players in the peace process in neighbouring South Sudan to consider first and foremost arranging and organising for national elections and have a security sector reform so that the Africa\u2019s youngest country could realize a transitional arrangement for political accountability.<\/p>\n
“There are two possible solutions in the situation of South Sudan; organising national elections, have ‘the security sector reform of the national army and return home of refugees. With these solutions, one can bring discipline and throw away the enemy of South Sudan,” he said.<\/p>\n
The President was meeting Mr. David Shearer, who is Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations for South Sudan, who called on him today at State House, Entebbe to discuss the situation in South Sudan.<\/p>\n
He said that to realize real political solution and proper accountability, there is need to go for free and fair elections in the country as a mutual solution. He stressed to the envoy that anybody who loves South Sudan should tell the fighting factions to stop because they are killing their own people. He observed that South Sudan has lived in war conflicts since 1954.<\/p>\n
On his part, Mr. Shearer said that the situation in South Sudan is worrying but urged the country to look forward towards having successful national elections slated for this year.<\/p>\n
