President Museveni,has cautioned farmers against land fragmentation, suggesting beneficiaries receive shares in inherited property rather than dividing it into small plots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The president accompanied by the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Maama Janet Kataha Museveni, hosted residents from Kiruhura and Kazo Districts at their country home in Rwakitura on April 1st, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The gathering followed a field study conducted by the group at Mr. Richard Nyakana’s model farm in Rwengaju, Fort Portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the interaction, residents praised President Museveni for promoting participation in the money economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYour Excellency, on behalf of our group, I want to thank you so much for waking us up and showing us the light. We have been sleeping, but after visiting Mr. Nyakana, we are now set to work and improve the lives of our families,\u201d said Ms. Alice Nabaasa, chairperson of the group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The group, initially visiting the President at his farm in Kisozi, Gomba District in February, pledged to join him in mobilizing Ugandans to create wealth through commercial agriculture with \u201cekibaro.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President Museveni was pleased to see the group heed his advice and tour Mr. Nyakana\u2019s farm, witnessing firsthand what he had been advocating for the country to escape poverty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He advised them to embrace commercial agriculture with the right selection of enterprises, citing Mr. Nyakana’s success in making over Shs188m per annum from just one acre of land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The President further pledged to construct a demonstration farm, similar to that of Mr. Nyakana, at Nshaara government ranch, benefiting the Western region of Uganda and the country as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Additionally, President Museveni pledged to provide silage choppers to every parish and tractors to every Sub County in the districts to facilitate smooth farming activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President Museveni reiterated the importance of leaders actively engaging in poverty alleviation efforts rather than focusing solely on politics, emphasizing that wealth creation should involve everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The First Lady, Maama Janet Museveni, commended the group for embracing the President’s advice and urged them to work harder to improve their livelihoods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
