President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has urged the recently appointed ministers to prioritize the fight against corruption and mobilize communities for wealth creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCorruption undermines our efforts, but by focusing on wealth creation and combating corruption, we can achieve 80 percent of our goals,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The President made these remarks today at State House-Entebbe during the swearing-in ceremony of six newly appointed ministers, vetted and approved by the parliamentary Appointments Committee on Monday, March 25th, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Presiding over the ceremony was the Head of Public Service and Secretary to the Cabinet, Ms. Lucy Nakyobe, with President Museveni in attendance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The newly appointed ministers include Hon. Lillian Aber as the Minister of State for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees, Dr. Kenneth Omona as the Minister of State for Northern Uganda, and Hon. Florence Wamala Nambozo as the Minister of State for Karamoja Affairs. Additionally, Hon. Phiona Nyamutoro was appointed as the Minister of State for Energy and Mineral Development (Minerals), Gen. Wilson Mbasu Mbadi as the Minister of State for Trade, and Hon. Balaam Barugahara as the Minister of State for Youth and Children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President Museveni congratulated the ministers on their appointments and specifically tasked Hon. Balaam to inspire youth involvement in wealth creation through sectors like commercial agriculture, manufacturing, services, and ICT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also expressed his intention to pardon certain opposition politicians and members accused of inciting illegal protests, on the condition that they pledge to refrain from such activities in the future, acknowledging the significant cost of infrastructure damage and the importance of protecting Ugandan lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ms. Nakyobe congratulated the new ministers, highlighting the trust placed in them by the President and the nation. She urged them to fulfill their responsibilities diligently and meet the expectations of both the President and the people of Uganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
