He expressed that while Fr. Tomaino will be dearly missed, his spirit will serve as an enduring source of inspiration for future generations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The message from President Museveni was conveyed by Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa during the funeral proceedings of Rev. Fr. Paolino Tomaino, a respected Italian Comboni missionary, spiritual guide, and philanthropist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rev. Fr. Paolino, who passed away last week in Italy at the age of 87, was honored and remembered for his profound contributions to Uganda and Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the tender age of 27, Rev. Fr. Paolino embarked on his journey to Africa, arriving in Uganda in January 1965. He was initially stationed in the Mbarara Diocese and later served in the Kabale Diocese. Known for his unwavering dedication and love for Uganda and its people, Rev. Fr. Paolino immersed himself in the local culture, mastering the Runyankole-Rukiga language within nine months. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Throughout his tenure, he tirelessly worked to establish schools, churches, hospitals, and Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (Saccos) across various regions including Bushenyi, Kabale, Kanungu, and Kiruhura, leaving an indelible mark on countless lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Beyond his remarkable accomplishments, Rev. Fr. Paolino was revered for his commitment to social justice and his inclusive approach to humanity. Regardless of religious, ethnic, or social differences, he championed equality and advocated for the rights of all individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reflecting on Rev. Fr. Paolino’s profound impact, Tayebwa expressed gratitude to the family and the Church for honoring his wish to be laid to rest at Kyamuhunga Catholic Parish in Bushenyi district. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the community bids farewell to a beloved figure, they unite in prayer, hoping for the eternal peace of his soul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
