Renowned Nigerian actor John Okafor, famously known as Mr. Ibu, succumbed to cardiac complications on Saturday, March 2, 2024, after battling illness for several months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Ibu’s health struggles came to public attention in October 2023 when he revealed an undisclosed illness that eventually led to the amputation of his leg. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite efforts to recover, his condition continued to deteriorate, and in November of the same year, his family made a public plea for prayers and financial assistance following the leg amputation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Throughout his illness, Mr. Ibu received support from various quarters, including former Nigerian president Abubakar Bukola Saraki and other well-wishers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite the assistance and medical care, Mr. Ibu’s health remained fragile, and he was in and out of the hospital until his untimely demise due to cardiac complications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Ibu leaves behind a legacy in Nigeria’s entertainment industry, having appeared in over 200 Nollywood films. His notable works include popular titles such as “Mr. Ibu,” “Coffin Producers,” “Husband Suppliers,” “Mr. Ibu in London,” “Police Recruit,” and “9 Wives,” among others. Prior to his acting career, he also had stints as a photographer and a hairstylist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
