The military has been tasked by President Yoweri Museveni with utilizing contemporary technology to handle contemporary security scenarios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While acknowledging that Africa is currently facing security concerns related to terrorism and piracy, among other things, Museveni hurried to add that the continent will be safe from critics if the military services agree to coordinate on combating criminality through the application of technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Museveni said he had received samples of technological chips, which are useful for tracking down criminals and gathering intelligence, when on a recent trip to Algeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Museveni claims that these technological applications promote security sanity by accelerating attempts to stop attacks and apprehend offenders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He continued by saying that while CCTV has shown to be a trustworthy tool for apprehending criminals, there are still certain weaknesses in the system that would need to be fixed to step up efforts to combat crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Museveni has given Gen. Wilson Mbadi, the Chief of Defence Forces, the responsibility of communicating with his international colleagues and utilizing the rapidly advancing technologies to combat criminality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mbadi, meanwhile, praised UPDF personnel for their professionalism and said that these values have helped them win the public’s trust in their ongoing efforts to advance community security and peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mbadi continued, saying that police have had the honour of having preparatory discussions with members of the public, the majority of whom are utilizing the current state of peace to promote economic change in their spheres of influence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They were conversing on Tuesday during the Tarehe Sita Celebrations, which took place at the Busesa grounds in the Bugweri District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Every year on the sixth day of February, people celebrate Tarehe Sita, a day set aside to remember the precise moment the National Resistance Army (NRA) began its struggle to free Uganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
