President of the National Unity Platform (NUP) party Robert Kyagulanyi, often known as Bobi Wine, has advised fellow Ugandans to take advantage of the current G77+China summits and the Non-Aligned Movement to voice their disapproval of the Museveni administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking at the NUP Headquarters in Makerere Kavule, Kyagulanyi responded to statements made by Chris Baryomunsi, Minister of Information, Technology, and National Guidance, for Ugandans to extend a hearty welcome to summit participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kyagulanyi disagreed with this request and urged people to take this opportunity to voice their concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He emphasized how over 3000 businesses are impacted and how lives and livelihoods are disrupted, with the purported benefits going mostly to a small group of political insiders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Additionally, Kyagulanyi issued a message to the leaders attending the summit claiming that they were being hosted by an illegitimate administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kyagulanyi expressed concerns about potential dangers to a fair election and opposed President Museveni’s recent selections to the Electoral Commission (EC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Joel Ssenyonyi, the party spokesperson and head of the opposition in parliament, stressed that the electoral process goes beyond election day and involves rejecting appointments they believe to be biased when asked about the NUP’s involvement in the elections held by the new commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kyagulanyi also took issue with the government’s hasty conclusion that ADF rebels were responsible for gun assaults in the absence of a thorough inquiry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He admitted that there are ADF rebels, but he also hinted that these crimes could be being planned by the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
