A 24-year-old man in Namisindwa district died in a challenge to drink 12 bottles of Kakasa Kombucha drink, an alcohol brand from Kenya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The deceased has been identified as Rober Welikhe, a resident of Sikhendu village, Sikhendu parish, Bukiabi sub-county.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Michael Koyi, one of the residents, says that the competition was organized by Augustus Wete, one of the local traders in the Riverside trading centre in Bukiabi Sub County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He explained that Wete staked Uganda Shillings 10,000 for whoever would down 12 bottles of Kakasa Kombucha drink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Koyi, Welikhe took on the challenge since he has been a known drinker in the area. He explains that all was well until Welikhe reached the 8th bottle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He collapsed and was released from his mouth and nose, prompting residents to rush him to Lwakhakha Mercy Clinic for treatment, but he died on the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nicolas Soita, the Bukiabi Sub County LC III chairperson, confirmed the incident, saying that they are hunting for Wete and those who were behind the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
