Property worth millions of Shillings was destroyed by a fire that broke out in a dormitory at St. Theresa – Kisubi Girls Primary School on Wednesday morning, allegedly caused by lightning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The police and school officials reported that there were no injuries or casualties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The students were outdoors getting ready for class when the incident happened at 7:30 a.m. in the morning drizzle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
To protect their safety, students were quickly evacuated from the main campus to the older buildings located in the parking lot in reaction to the situation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
All students and staff were safe, according to Deputy Headmaster Gerald Kizito, and an official statement would be given later by the Headmistress, Sister Maria Josephine Namubiru.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When a reporter visited the school at approximately 9:00 a.m., parents were not permitted to enter the building. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was difficult to assess the extent of the damage and the monetary loss because the impacted dormitory, which housed students from lower grades up to primary four, was hidden from view from the school entrance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A police car on patrol and a few cops were seen in the vicinity of the impacted building, where they continued to assist the school administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the parking gate, Deputy Headmaster Gerald Kizito and a few teachers were present to provide worried parents with succinct, circumspect explanations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Kizito, “The headmistress will make an official comment, but what you should know is that all our learners, teachers, and staff are safe.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Parents were reassured by Kampala Metropolitan Spokesperson Patrick Onyango that no one was hurt or killed in the incident. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
