The police in Kagadi are holding five suspects in the alleged strangulation of a 4-year-old child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police have withheld the identities of the suspects for fear of compromising ongoing investigations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They are accused of strangling to death Noeline Basemera, a resident of Mugoija village in Kabamba sub-county, Kagadi district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Basemera went missing from her parents’ home on Saturday last week under unclear circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her disappearance prompted her parents and residents to launch a search in vain. Concerned for the child’s safety, they contacted Kagadi police, who quickly initiated a search operation in collaboration with the local community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, on Sunday evening at approximately 6 p.m. the lifeless body of the child was discovered in a maize plantation within the same village. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The deceased\u2019s father, Gilbert Lwagaliyo, recounted that his daughter went missing while playing with her friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson, says that the police recovered the child’s body, which was subsequently transported to Kagadi General Hospital for a postmortem examination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The examinations revealed evidence of bruising on the neck, indicating that she had been strangled to death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
