The Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2023 have picked Stanbic Bank, the anchor subsidiary of Stanbic Uganda Holdings Limited, as winner in the category of Best Bank in Uganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The announcement was made last week during celebrations of the achievements of the world’s best banks at a ceremony held in London. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Euromoney deliberated over 269 different awards categories in 2023, determining winners at country, regional and global levels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The London-based publication is the leading authority for the world\u2019s banking and financial markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Euromoney Awards for Excellence were started in 1992 and were the first of their kind in the global banking industry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They remain the worldwide gold standard in this regard and are determined by an editorial panel of judges following a three-month research and interview process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other award winners include BNP Paribas, which won the world\u2019s best bank and was named the world\u2019s best bank for sustainable finance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the same time, Morgan Stanley was named the world\u2019s best investment bank for 2023. The same bank also won the world\u2019s best bank for advisory and the world\u2019s best bank for financial institutions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Christian Sewing, the chief executive at Deutsch Bank was named the banker of the year for 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Most admired financial institution<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In the same week, Stanbic Bank was named Uganda\u2019s most admired financial institution according to the latest rankings by Brand Africa, which held its 13 annual awards ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The awards are based on a survey and rankings conducted by Geopoll, Kantar as part of the pan-Africa research across 32 African countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe are honoured to know that our efforts to transform our client experience through product innovations that help to drive Uganda\u2019s growth are being acknowledged at home and beyond. It leapfrogged Equity, Absa, Ecobank and UBA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thebe Ikalafeng, the founder and Chairman of Brand Africa said, \u201cAfrica\u2019s oldest banking group, Standard Bank, building on the acquisition of Liberty Holdings and digital partnerships with platforms such as Salesforce, Shyft, Thrive, and One Hub, surged to the number one most-admired finance brand in Africa.
