The Fire and Rescue team from the Uganda Police and residents on Thursday rescued three staff of Kilembe Mines who were trapped as they attempted to cross river Nyamwamba in Kasese District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The staff have been identified as Julius Keihwa, Collins Nuwagaba, and Mary Kabugho.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They were doing renovation work on their offices that are located across the river. They were trapped on a piece of land in the middle of the river.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Thursday, the river burst its banks following heavy rains in the district, displacing hundreds of people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Residents accuse the government of not fulfilling its promise to find a lasting solution to the flow of water from River Nyamwanba which continues to claim lives and loss of property every year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Rwenzori East Police spokesperson Nelson Tumushime said the police are warning locals not to cross the river until the water levels decrease.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
