Police has arrested a former contestant for the Kampala Lord Mayor seat on suspicion of conning an American businessman of UGX 575 million in a fake gold deal.<\/p>\n
The suspect identified as Muhammad Leon Kasule also known as “Big Boy” is currently being investigated at Kibuli CID headquarters.<\/p>\n
The CID spokesperson Vincent Ssekate said that Kasule’s arrest came after receiving a complaint from a member of Ugandans Living in the Diaspora called Florence Kiremerwa.<\/p>\n
He said that in June 2017, Kilemerwa met Richards who had gone to the DRC embassy in the United States to get a visa to Congo to buy Gold.<\/p>\n
She then connected him to Kasule for help.<\/p>\n
Huge amounts of money meant for purchase of gold were channelled through Kiremerwa’s Eco Bank accounts to Kasule.<\/p>\n
When Kilemerwa realised that she had been conned, complained to the prime minister for intervention and when this didn’t work out decided to report the case to police.<\/p>\n
Sekate said that police is currently investigating whether the said millions of money were fraudulently obtained as well as if money received by Kilemerwa from Richards was sent to Kasule.<\/p>\n
A case file no. GEF 784\/2017 has been opened up and Kasule is being detained at Kabalagala Police Station.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
