Police have detained a man in the Nakasongola district after it was claimed that he killed his wife and daughter and then hid their bodies in a forest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Daniel Toyo, a resident of Kalungu village in the Wabinyonyi sub-county, has been detained for the murders of his 24-year-old wife, Kate Acio alias Kisakye and his 3-year-old daughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Toyo, a charcoal burner, is suspected of killing the two on December 16, 2022, but Police only discovered their remains on January 21, 2018, thanks to a tip from Toyo’s buddy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On that terrible morning, around 6:00, it is said that Toyo and his wife got into a fight that turned violent and killed both the woman and the child. According to reports, Toyo struck the wife over the head with a hoe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Brians Ampaire, the commander of the Nakasongola District Police, the suspect surreptitiously buried the victims in two graves he dug in the nearby woodland after the murder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Ampaire, the Police detained Toyo on Saturday, January 21, after receiving a tip from a friend who had just paid him a visit at his farm-based house and discovered bones and garments that dogs had partially excavated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The suspect admitted to the crime and led us to the spot, where we discovered several body parts because the graves were shallow, “The DPC added. “The murder weapon, which was secreted around 100 meters distant, and the grave-digging tool, were also found.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ampaire stated that while the investigation into the case continues, the Police are awaiting a court order before they exhume the deceased remains for postmortem examination and deliver them to the grieved family for proper burial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Murder charges against Toyo are listed in file CRB 07\/2023 at the Katuugo Police Station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A local, Andrew Ndemezi, claims that because the suspect resided on a remote farm, it took a while for the community to find out about the murder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ndemezi, however, said that the suspect’s drug and alcohol addictions may have motivated him to carry out the murder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Most crimes in the country are still reported to involve domestic violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2021, domestic violence claimed the lives of at least 376 individuals, according to the most recent police crime statistics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
