Michael Karugire, the owner of Qadar Recruitment Agency, is wanted by the Kampala Metropolitan Police for allegedly defrauding external job applicants out of more than 800 million shillings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At least 40 of the more than 300 victims have filed complaints with the police stations in Old Kampala, Nateete, Katwe, Kajjansi, Kawempe, and Kampala Central.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The job applicants claim they were promised lucrative positions in Qatar, Canada, South Korea, and Turkey in exchange for at least five million shillings apiece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some of the victims who were discovered at CPS and Old Kampala claim that Karugire started to hire people in September of last year and often listed job openings on the organization’s Facebook page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hassan Ssempijja spent five million Shillings for his brother to get a job in South Korea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ssempijja claimed to have met Karugire and given him job assurance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ssempijja would meet Allan Akampurira on days when Karugire wasn’t at work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ssempijja was persuaded to pay the money by Karugire and Akampurira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another victim, Marion Namara, said that the agent, who she subsequently discovered to be Sharon Ndagire contacted him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Namara claims that Ndagire persuaded her that there were lucrative employment opportunities in South Korea and even provided information about the employer that was hiring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Namara looked into the company and was convinced by the job postings on its social media sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Namara asserts that she thinks Qadar was a legitimate labour export business that promised to begin hiring employees in 18 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango, Karugire is wanted by many KMP police stations, and a search has been initiated to find him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the police, victims would be told to bring the cash to various banking locations so that Karugire or his agents could pick it up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Within 18 days, jobs were guaranteed to all the sufferers. The police cautioned the public and said the agents were still tricking additional individuals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
