Among the four is Kavuma Jamushid, a bodyguard to NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They were arrested&nbsp;on November&nbsp;5 and their whereabouts were unknown until&nbsp;32 days when they were taken to Old Kampala Police from where they were taken to Mengo Magistrates court and charged with malicious&nbsp;damage to&nbsp;property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Wednesday, the court allowed them a cash bail of 200,000 Shillings and a 2 million Shillings non- cash bail for each of the sureties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mengo Grade I magistrate, Adams Byaruhanga ordered the four to appear again in court on January 17, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking after the court session, David Lewis Rubongoya decried the continued arrest of their supporters across the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said every day they receive reports of new arrests while their efforts to engage the Uganda Human Rights Commission is yet to bear any fruits.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The&nbsp;Magistrates Court in Mengo&nbsp;has granted bail&nbsp;to four National Unity Platform-NUP supporters who have been in prison for almost two weeks.
