Jinja Road Police are is holding one of their own at the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police-ASP suspected of murdering his girlfriend.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga identifies the suspect as Joseph Wandera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He is accused of murdering his\u00a0girlfriend Subi Busingye on December 5th, 2022 while returning home\u00a0from\u00a0an outing at\u00a0Lugogo rugby club. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to police, after the incident, the suspect walked to\u00a0the police station claiming that his girlfriend had slipped and fallen into one of the open manholes next to the Umeme transformer along the Jinja road at around 2:00 am.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhen he reported the matter at Jinja road, we sent the homicide team, but when they reached it was found that there was blood around the manhole, and also got the shoes scattered around, if someone had fallen, they wouldn\u2019t have got such traces,\u201d Enanga said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Enanga explains that the scene of the crime had traces of evidence that there was a struggle between the suspect and the deceased. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe body was recovered in the channel around 1 kilometer away towards Bugolobi, being swept by the water, and taken to the city mortuary. When the postpartum was carried out, it was found that she died as a result of strangulation,” he noted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Preliminary findings show that the two lovers developed misunderstandings along the way when the deceased threatened to quit the relationship resulting in a fight. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wandera is not the first police officer to run into trouble for the alleged murder of his lover. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In August this year, SPC Isaac Alioma from Kijomoro police station in Maracha district committed\u00a0suicide after shooting his wife dead in a domestic fight. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
