{"id":3400,"date":"2018-03-22T10:37:19","date_gmt":"2018-03-22T07:37:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=3400"},"modified":"2018-03-22T10:37:19","modified_gmt":"2018-03-22T07:37:19","slug":"museveni-fires-top-immigration-officials","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2018\/03\/22\/museveni-fires-top-immigration-officials\/","title":{"rendered":"Museveni Fires Top Immigration Officials"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In an effort to spray <em>Kawukuumi<\/em> out of government departments, President Museveni has fired two top immigration officials.<\/p>\n<p>The fired officials are; Godfrey Sasaga, the director for Citizenship and Immigration and Anthony Namara, the Commissioner for Immigrations.<\/p>\n<p>On the same directive, President Museveni said that the two should be investigated for the crimes committed while in line of duty.<\/p>\n<p>This website understands that the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigrations is responsible movement of persons to and from Uganda; process, verify and grant Uganda citizenship; and, regulate the issuance of national passports and other travel documents.<\/p>\n<p>Recently many travellers have been complaining on the conduct of Immigration officers at Entebbe International airport.<\/p>\n<p>Several cases of corruption and theft have been reported at the airport.<\/p>\n<p>A few days ago, Civil Aviation Authority issued a statement on the allegations of theft and corruption at Entebbe International Airport and it reads as;<\/p>\n<p><em>Civil Aviation Authority has noted with concern various social media complaints including one titled \u201cEntebbe Airport thieves\u201d posted by a certain Tijay James in relation to a passenger who was scheduled to travel to China on Sunday 18th March, 2018.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>We would like to assure the public that investigation of this and other complaints already commenced. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The passenger was stopped from proceeding with the flight to China by DAS Handling Staff, the handling agents for the airline, because of having a one-way ticket yet travel documentation indicated study for a short period of between 4-5 months.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>In addition, the passenger\u2019s admission notice indicated that there was need to have registered with the academic institution by 2nd March, 2018, failure of which would be \u201cregarded as giving up the admission.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The passenger did not present to the handling agents evidence of valid registration.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>All the other allegations of extortion are being thoroughly investigated. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The travelling public is urged to immediately report any form of extortion experienced during travel through Entebbe International Airport to any of the following; <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Airport Operations Duty Officer &#8211; 0757-270809, General Manager \u2013 0752507618, Manager Operations \u2013 0758483681 or Manager Public Affairs \u2013 0752426559.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>It is important for the public to know that while CAA manages and operates Entebbe International Airport, there are several other independent providers of key services at the Airport including, but not limited to Immigration, Customs, Handling agents (ENHAS and DAS) and airlines, among others.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The Authority has and continues to engage all the airport service providers to ensure that complaints are duly addressed to the satisfaction of the airport users.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>CAA assures the travelling public that all is being done to ensure that passengers through Entebbe International Airport enjoy a memorable experience.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In an effort to spray Kawukuumi out of government departments, President Museveni has fired two top immigration officials.
