The Inspector General of Police, Martin Okoth Ochola has condemned what he calls the senseless and violent attack on Busiika Police Station in Luwero district.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A group of armed assailants stormed Busiika Police Station\u00a0around\u00a07:30 pm on Monday evening and shot dead two police officers. They injured\u00a0two others critically and made off with their firearms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Preliminary Police investigations show that the assailants who were about seven, emerged from three different sides, two in front and one from behind, and were armed with a pistol and guns.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They shot Detective Inspector of Police, Alex Wagaluka, the in-charge CID, and Police constable Moses Ongol to death. The assailants also injured police constables\u00a0Adrian Ochom and Stephen Odama Stephen who are now battling for their lives at\u00a0Bombo Military hospital where they were rushed in critical condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The attackers also burnt several case files and torched the police station but residents managed to put out the fire. Now, in a press statement, Police Spokesperson, Fred Enanga, says that the IGP notes that although the motive of the assailants is still unknown, the fact that they killed and injured police officers and made off with two guns clearly reveals that they targeted guns, police personnel, and the facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We do honor the deceased officers; D\/IP Wagaluka Alex and PC Ongol Moses, for their ultimate sacrifice, while serving the community in Busiika, Luweero, and the country at large,” Ochola said in the statement.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ochola notes that after condoning off the scene forensic experts recovered a pistol that fell as the assailants fled from the scene and it will be subjected to further ballistic examinations.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He however reiterates that there was no justification whatsoever for the attack and acts of violence against police officers on duty.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We shall not rest until when they are arrested and brought to book,” Ochola vowed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There is heightened police and UPDF deployment in\u00a0Busiika town since the attack.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In July this year, unknown assailants stabbed two policemen at the roadblock at Kiwumpa village, five kilometers from Luwero town council before disappearing with two guns.\u00a0To date, Police are yet to recover the guns despite arresting scores of suspects in connection to the attack.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
