The joint Uganda People’s Defense Forces and the Congolese troops have reportedly killed a key of the rebel Allied Democratic Forces-ADF fighter\u00a0of Somali Origin inside the Democratic Republic of Congo-DRC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The rebel was gunned down at\u00a0Ndoma 20kms South of Kamango town in the Virunga impenetrable forest as the forces were advancing towards Alungupe, Loselose and Ngadu.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The forces also recovered one SMG with 27 ammunitions and a military backpack. His other accomplices ran in disarray in the Virunga forest. Col James Kasule, the Sector One Operation Shujaa Commander, said that the forces were advancing to the added area of operation of Loselose, Ndjerube when they came in contact with ADF rebels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis area\u2019s terrain is a bit challenging because it comprises thick forest, hills, and valleys, that is why we managed to kill one while others fled down the valleys,\u201d \u00a0Col Kasule said in a statement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kasule, explained that areas like Luanoli, Nobili, Kamango, and Kilunga that used to come under frequent ADF are now peaceful with institutions such as\u00a0schools, churches, and health centers\u00a0beginning\u00a0to operate at full capacity.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur joint concerted efforts together with the local population in neutralizing ADF terrorists has resulted in the total liberation of the original sector one area of operation,” he said. In March, the joint security forces killed Abu Aden, another ADF commander of Somali origin in a battle at Malulu, 7 kilometers North West of Boga town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A month\u00a0earlier\u00a0another foreign fighter of Tanzanian origin, identified as Nfurusii was gunned down at Kilunga near the Nobili – Busunga border.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Operation Shujja spokesperson, Maj. Peter Mugisa, said the elimination of foreign fighters in the ongoing operation further confirms ADF links to international terrorist groups or movements such as ISIS and Al-Qaeda.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said that though they have not got detailed particulars of the rebel killed, intelligence information proved that he is from Somalia.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
