{"id":33124,"date":"2022-09-29T16:13:52","date_gmt":"2022-09-29T13:13:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=33124"},"modified":"2022-09-29T16:13:54","modified_gmt":"2022-09-29T13:13:54","slug":"three-soroti-district-officials-arrested-for-mismanaging-ugx-890m","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2022\/09\/29\/three-soroti-district-officials-arrested-for-mismanaging-ugx-890m\/","title":{"rendered":"Three Soroti District Officials Arrested for Mismanaging UGX 890m"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Police and the State House Anti-Corruption Unit have arrested three Soroti district officials over alleged fraud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those arrested are Michael Okello, the Internal Auditor, Simon Okanya, the Principal Human Resource Officer, and Oonyu Charles Human Resource Officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is alleged that the suspects inflated the costs for the construction of Adamasiko Water Supply System\/ Project in Oculoi Sub County and embezzled more than 390 million shillings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The three are also accused of mismanaging and manipulating Soroti district local government payroll by paying ghost workers to the tune of 500 million shillings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oscar Gregg Ageca, the East Kyoga Regional Police Spokesman said in a statement that some of the officials have been paraded to court on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ageca added that the Police are conducting further investigations into the matter. He also revealed that the team is investigating similar cases in Kalaki and Kumi districts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Kalaki District, the Police and the State House Anti-Corruption Unit are investigating the alleged embezzlement of about 350 million shillings by the Kalaki district officials which resulted in shoddy works of a road and bridge which connects Kalaki to Alebtong Districts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Kumi, the officers are investigating a case of alleged mismanagement of 300 million shillings meant for the Parish Development Model (PDM) funds.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Police and the State House Anti-Corruption Unit have arrested three Soroti district officials over alleged fraud.
