<\/p>\nBoda boda 2010 patron, Abdallah Kitatta and 12 others have been remanded to Luzira prison after appearing before Makindye Military Court.<\/p>\n
Kitatta and his co-accused persons said that they understood very well the charges that were read to them but they were not ready to be tried in a military court because they are civilians.<\/p>\n
They charged with unlawful possession of fire arms, live ammunitions, Military wear like head gear, uniforms and others which are a monopoly of the UPDF<\/p>\n
They were also found in unlawful possession of two pistols, one SMG and rounds of ammunition, which are a monopoly of the armed forces.<\/p>\n
Lt. General Andrew Gutti who is in charge of Makindye General Court Martial warned the suspects that they are taking these charges lightly yet they are serious charges.<\/p>\n

He further advised them to talk to their lawyers such that they understand why they are being charged in a Military court.<\/p>\n
It should be noted that, Section 119 of the UPDF Act, provides for persons subject to military law.<\/p>\n
It further provides under Section 119 (1) (h), (i) that every person found in unlawful possession of arms, ammunitions or equipment ordinarily being the monopoly of\u00a0\u00a0 the Defence Forces, becomes subject to military law.<\/p>\n
This website understands that criminal offences of failure to protect war material are contrary to Section 122 (1) and (2) (5) and (i) of the UPDF act, attracts attract a maximum sentence of death.<\/p>\n
