Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has refuted reports that 2022 candidates will need to present their parents National Identification Number (NIN) to be able to register for their final exams this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This followed information that was reported by certain media that candidates for PLE, UCE and UACE might be dismissed from registering for the 2022 finals exams for failure to present their parents\u2019 National Identification Numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement seen by Ug Mirror, UNEB Executive Director Dan Odongo said no one would be disqualified for not having NIN for their parents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cUNEB hereby clarifies that the requirement for a parent’s National Identification Card to register a candidate does not apply to the candidates of 2022. This is therefore to allay the fears of candidates, parents, guardians, and school administrators that no one will be disqualified from registering for the 2022 Examinations because of a National Identification Card,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Odongo said the normal registration process is currently underway until May 31, while late registration, which attracts a surcharge, will take place in June 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFor candidates of 2022, the information\/data requirement at the primary school level is the learner’s authentic biodata particularly, correctly spelled names in the right order, as well as the date of birth. A copy of a genuine birth certificate may be provided to the school to facilitate accurate data capture and ensure consistency,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The candidates also require passport photographs taken by the school according to the photo resolution prescribed by UNEB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the secondary school level, Odongo said the main information is the learner’s index\/ student number and year of sitting for the preceding series of UNEB examinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is recommended that the learners should present the previous result slips to the schools at the time of registration. Learners who sat for examinations not administered by UNEB should bring their results to UNEB to determine their equivalence before they are allowed to register for the UNEB examinations\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He encouraged parents and school administrators to support all the 2022 candidates to study and register in time for the national examinations, adding that they do not need to submit National Identification<\/p>\n\n\n\n
