American Tower Cooperation Uganda has been dragged to Gulu High Court by Oyat Binanysio who alleges that the company\u2019s agents fraudulently led him to believe that a telecom mast they were setting up on his land was government property and as such he did not deserve compensation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
ATC Uganda is a provider of wireless and broadcast towers, other right-of-way options, managed rooftops and services that speed network deployment for the wireless and broadcast communications industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
ATC in response to Oyat\u2019s allegations, claims that the land in question belongs to Nwoya District which has since been compensated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A source has since claimed the company had paid the District because the said mast in the middle of Oyat\u2019s land is on a rocky hill which belongs to the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Efforts to reach Oyat\u2019s lawyers for a comment were futile as they claimed the matter is ongoing before Court and they would not offend the sub judice rule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Uganda recently received a 32 billion grant from the EU and World Bank meant to strengthen the land tenure system in Eastern and Northern Uganda. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
North and Eastern Uganda continue to face multiple land wrangles because of their continued use of the customary land tenure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
