{"id":29499,"date":"2022-03-02T12:23:00","date_gmt":"2022-03-02T09:23:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=29499"},"modified":"2022-03-14T12:25:00","modified_gmt":"2022-03-14T09:25:00","slug":"electoral-commission-verifies-administrative-units","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2022\/03\/02\/electoral-commission-verifies-administrative-units\/","title":{"rendered":"Electoral Commission Verifies Administrative Units"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Electoral Commission Uganda has started the preparatory activities to conduct Women<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Councils and Committees elections 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These will be from the village to the national level and Administrative Units (LC 1 and LC 2) Elections, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The current Women Councils and Committees were elected during the period July \u2013<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">August 2018, and the Executive Committee of the National Women\u2019s Council was<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">constituted on 23rd &#8211; 24 August 2018. According to the National Women\u2019s Council Act, the terms of office of the said Councils and Committees is four (4) years, implying their term will expire in August 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The current Village\/Cell (LC 1) and Parish\/Ward (LC 2) Committees were elected in July<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2018. According to the Local Government Act, the term of office of the said Executive<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Committees is five (5) years, implying their term will expire in July 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The elections were conducted in a total number of 60,800 villages\/cells and 8,387<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Parishes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Electoral Commission will conduct a verification exercise of all the administrative units across the country from 17th \u2013 26th March 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Commission will conduct the verification\/confirmation of administrative Units in a<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">participatory manner, and particularly in consultation with the respective District\/City<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">administrative leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Below is a full statement on the Verification of Administrative Units<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<iframe class=\"embed-pdf-viewer\" src=\"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Press-Statement-on-the-Programme-for-Verification-of-Administrative-Units-28.02.2022.pdf\" height=\"800\" width=\"600\" title=\"Array\"><\/iframe>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Electoral Commission Uganda has started the preparatory activities to conduct Women Councils and Committees elections 2022.
