{"id":28931,"date":"2022-02-08T10:24:55","date_gmt":"2022-02-08T07:24:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=28931"},"modified":"2022-02-08T10:24:59","modified_gmt":"2022-02-08T07:24:59","slug":"royal-chiefs-to-hold-parallel-kyabazinga-day-celebrations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2022\/02\/08\/royal-chiefs-to-hold-parallel-kyabazinga-day-celebrations\/","title":{"rendered":"Royal Chiefs to Hold Parallel Kyabazinga Day Celebrations"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A section of royal chiefs from Busoga Kingdom, have threatened to hold parallel celebrations for Kyabazinga Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kyabazinga Day is celebrated annually on February 11 in commemoration of a closed meeting held in the early 1930s, when the then Busoga chiefs unanimously agreed to elect a unifying king amongst themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The chiefs further agreed that much as all the 11 chiefdoms would elect a preferable king amongst themselves, only five royal chiefs&#8217; families were entitled to the throne, which was meant to be rotational in consideration with the prevailing circumstances and provisions of the Busoga kingdom\u2019s constitution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event proceeded with the election of HRH Ezekiel Tenywa Wako, the royal chief of Bulamogi chiefdom, who reigned as their first king from 1939-to 1949.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The current Busoga King, Gabula Nadiope IV defeated Columbus Wambuzi, the royal chief of Bulamogi, to win this seat in 2014. &nbsp;He was later consecrated as King on September 13, 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Secretary of the Busoga chiefs&#8217; royal council, Robert Mukajanga however, told journalists on Monday that, the decision to dethrone Gabula was substantive and they have agreed to unveil a new King of their choice to their subjects all over the kingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Robert-1024x683.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28934\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Robert-1024x683.png 1024w, https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Robert-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Robert-768x512.png 768w, https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Robert-1536x1024.png 1536w, https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Robert-360x240.png 360w, https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Robert.png 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption>Robert Mukajanga, addressing journalists on Monday<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mukajanga argues that several officials under Gabula\u2019s tenure as king have grabbed kingdom land and houses, therefore, it is imperative upon them to elect a leader who will safeguard both their sovereignty and property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Busoga Kingdom Prime Minister Joseph Muvawala last month released a statement dismissing the royal chiefs\u2019 claims, arguing that, Gabula is still the reigning king and he can only lose the throne through death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, the Gender Ministry released a letter dated January 21, 2022, which was signed by James Ebitu, where they reaffirmed their commitment towards working with Gabula, whom they recognize as the King of Busoga. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A section of royal chiefs from Busoga Kingdom, have threatened to hold parallel celebrations for Kyabazinga Day.
