President Yoweri Museveni has held a meeting with the General Manager of Kunming Pharmaceutical Corporation (KPC) Overseas Division, Mr. Zhao Xinrun and the Vice President of Henan Senyuan Electric Company Ltd, Mr. Dai Quanhe, called on him yesterday at State House, Entebbe.<\/p>\n
The 2 China-based companies have expressed their interest to invest in the Ugandan economy.<\/p>\n
Kunming Pharmaceutical Corporation (KPC) Overseas Division specializes in research, development and sale of pharmaceuticals and has been in the market for 20 years exporting its products to over 30 African countries.<\/p>\n
President Museveni welcomed KPC’s interest to invest in Uganda and said that the Government of Uganda is ready to work with them to provide medicine at affordable charges for Ugandans.<\/p>\n
“We want to have a vertically integrated industry so that raw materials such as starch from maize and cassava are used to make tablets and refined sugar to make syrups,†he said.<\/p>\n
Henan Senyuan Electric Company Ltd is in the business of developing, manufacturing and distribution of high and low voltage electric devices. The company also provides high- and low-voltage switch components, power quality control equipment and new energy products. The products are applied in State Grid, new energy, rail transportation, petrochemical, building materials, municipal, medical and health and metallurgical areas, among others.<\/p>\n
In Uganda, the electric company seeks to manufacture transformers and cables and also work with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) to scale up rural electrification.<\/p>\n
President Museveni told Mr. Quanhe of the electric company that government is in the process of repairing and restarting the copper mines in Kasese district so as to get the needed material to make transformers and cables.<\/p>\n
