Kayunga police has arrested a 60year old Okou Okellp for sexually harassing his 9year old granddaughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police spokesperson CP Fred Enanga says that the incident happened on December 06, 2021 at around 11am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Preliminary facts indicate that on the 6.12.2021, at around 11.30am, a one Okou Okellp, a 60-year-old, resident of Wunga \u2013 Kyebuye village, Kayonza sub-county, Kayunga district, asked his 9-year-old grand-daughter to escort him and check on how the goats were grazing in the fields,\u201d said Enanga before adding that;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhile in the fields, he removed the victim\u2019s knicker and started assaulting her sexually.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is further said that a young boy who was in the vicinity where the action was taking place made an alarm and the locals came and apprehended the monster mzee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt took the bravery of a young boy (names withheld), wo raised an alarm that the village mates responded to and arrested the suspect,\u201d said Enanga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Enanga further cautioned the public to be vigilant as the cases of child abuse are on the rise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe threat of sexual abuse of young girls in modern society has become so common and grave, including suspects who are very close like guardians, parents, relatives, teachers and elders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAll members of the public, should know, that children are vulnerable members of the community, who need to be protected from all forms of sexual predators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
