{"id":27092,"date":"2021-10-25T10:56:41","date_gmt":"2021-10-25T07:56:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=27092"},"modified":"2021-10-25T10:56:43","modified_gmt":"2021-10-25T07:56:43","slug":"is-claims-responsibility-for-bomb-attack-in-uganda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2021\/10\/25\/is-claims-responsibility-for-bomb-attack-in-uganda\/","title":{"rendered":"IS Claims Responsibility For Bomb Attack In Uganda"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Islamic state claimed responsibility for a bomb attack that killed at least one person in Uganda&#8217;s capital Kampala on Saturday night, the militant group said in a statement posted in an affiliated Telegram channel late on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The group said that some of its members detonated an explosive device in a bar where &#8220;members and spies of the Crusader Ugandan government were gathering&#8221; in Kampala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bomb, packed with nails and shrapnel, targeted a pork restaurant on the outskirts of the capital, police said on Sunday.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Information gathered indicated that three men, disguised as customers, visited the restaurant, placed a polythene bag under a table and left moments before the explosion, police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The explosion killed a 20-year-old waitress and injured three people, two of whom were in critical condition, police said, adding all indications suggest an act of domestic terror.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">President Yoweri Museveni said the attack &#8220;seems to be a terrorist act&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2010, the Somali Islamist militant group al Shabaab killed dozens of people in Kampala in a bomb attack, saying it was punishing Uganda for deploying troops in Somalia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Reporting by Mahmoud Mourad; Editing by Christopher Cushing and Michael Perry  <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Islamic state claimed responsibility for a bomb attack that killed at least one person in Uganda&#8217;s capital Kampala on Saturday night, the militant group said in a statement posted in an affiliated Telegram channel late on Sunday.
