The National Resistance Movement\u2019s Director of Communication, Emmanuel Dombo has said the opposition always talked of plan B without enough explanation creating a very a big space for all sort of accusations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dombo was commenting on the current insecurity in the greater Masaka where 28 people have been killed in the past one month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yesterday two opposition legislators Muhammad Ssegirinya of Kawempe South and Allan Ssewanyana of Makindye West recorded statements at Masaka police over the spate of murders in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They were later remanded to Kitalya Prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the weekly press briefing, the Police said that some of the suspects arrested recently over the gruesome murders in Masaka sub-region have implicated MPs of planning the acts of terror.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe suspects indicated to us how they were promised wealth and this was under the command of the two politicians. We are going to record statements from the two MPs who are behind the murders,\u201d Enanga said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While appearing on NBS TV\u2019s Morning Breeze on Monday Morning, Dombo noted that when someone mentions an alternative plan without giving enough details, he or she leaves a big question to be answered hence creating all sorts of accusations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBefore the election people talked of plan B and if you say plan B and you don\u2019t explain it, you leave a very big grey area for somebody creating all sorts of accusations when something has happened. That is therefore when government is investigating, they{opposition}must be very cautious so that they don\u2019t stray out like they have been doing in the previous murders,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the government will not at any one time totally eliminate criminality in society, noting that people dying is not a total scare that government has failed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said Masaka murders remain isolated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe only problem in Masaka is that the government should try and get the motive behind the murders. In Uganda, whatever happens, is politicized. The opposition had never acknowledged that NRM is the guarantor of security but when somebody dies that is when they will come and talk about security,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He noted that the security personnel have demonstrated that they are above the situation in Masaka adding that in a week, there has been no massive incident in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe President is the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces. He is also a renowned security guru. It is wrong to say that the President is downplaying the issue. Existence of security doesn’t mean absence of crime. Crime exists in people’s mind,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dombo said that one of the first responsibilities of a leader is to give confidence to the people of Uganda other than uttering misleading statements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe situation in Masaka is worrisome, but doesn’t confirm that there is a massive insecurity problem in the country. Something that has to do with human life and where motive has not been established becomes worrisome,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
