{"id":25432,"date":"2021-07-28T13:00:55","date_gmt":"2021-07-28T10:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=25432"},"modified":"2021-07-28T13:02:17","modified_gmt":"2021-07-28T10:02:17","slug":"breaking-weightlifter-sekitoleko-released-on-police-bond","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2021\/07\/28\/breaking-weightlifter-sekitoleko-released-on-police-bond\/","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING: Weightlifter Sekitoleko Released on Police Bond"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Julius Ssekitoleko, the Ugandan weightlifter who went missing in Japan and was later returned home, has been released on Police bond, according to reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sekitoleko has been in police custody since his return home with the force saying he was being probed for allegedly arranging his travel to Japan under the guise of going to compete in the Tokyo olympics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> Charles Twiine, spokesperson for Uganda\u2019s Criminal Investigations Department, told journalists Monday that an investigation was launched to determine why Sekitoleko was flown to Japan with his coach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> Sekitoleko was deported to Uganda last week, after he was arrested by police in Japan\u2019s Mie Prefecture. Police went looking for him after he disappeared from the Ugandan Olympic team\u2019s training camp in Izumisano, in Osaka, Japan.&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> Investigating officers say they continue to record statements from the Olympic Committee and will wait for officials currently in Japan to return to explain why Sekitoleko was allowed to travel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br> <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Julius Ssekitoleko, the Ugandan weightlifter who went missing in Japan and was later returned home, has been released on Police bond, according to reports.
