{"id":25175,"date":"2021-07-19T13:49:07","date_gmt":"2021-07-19T10:49:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=25175"},"modified":"2021-07-19T13:49:11","modified_gmt":"2021-07-19T10:49:11","slug":"google-adds-option-to-instantly-delete-your-last-15-minutes-of-search-history","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2021\/07\/19\/google-adds-option-to-instantly-delete-your-last-15-minutes-of-search-history\/","title":{"rendered":"Google Adds Option To Instantly Delete Your Last 15 Minutes Of Search History"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"YDRprS\">Google is launching a new privacy feature for search that lets you instantly delete your last 15 minutes of search history on mobile, the company\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.google\/products\/search\/new-privacy-tool-search\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced on Thursday<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"YDRprS\">The new option\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.google\/technology\/safety-security\/our-work-keep-you-safe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">was first revealed<\/a>\u00a0alongside several other search and Chrome improvements\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/google-io\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">at I\/O 2021<\/a>\u00a0and is now rolling out to everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"19UyiI\">The option to delete your last 15 minutes of search history is currently only available in Google\u2019s iOS app and is headed to Android later this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"19UyiI\">On desktop, your options for deleting searches are limited to setting your history to auto-delete every three, 18, or 36 months (18 months is the default for new accounts), or deleting searches by hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Google says it only tracks your search history to \u201cpersonalize\u201d your experience when the \u201cWeb and App Activity\u201d setting is enabled. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Adding a way to instantly delete your history is great for your peace of mind, but it also means you can get some of the benefits the people who\u2019ve taken the time to mess with their settings receive, without doing the extra work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Think of it as an emergency \u201coh no\u201d button for terrible, embarrassing, or just plain private searches.
