Former Lands Minister, Beti Kamya has been appointed the new Inspector General of Government (IGG).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her appointed was announced on Thursday evening by President Yoweri Museveni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“By the Powers given to me under Article 223(4) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, I hereby, appoint: 1. Inspector General of Government – Beti Namisango Kamya 2. Deputy Inspector of Government – Anne Muhairwe,” Museveni tweeted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The post of the IGG fell vacant after Irene Mulyagonja, the former ombudsman, returned to the judiciary as part of the Court of Appeal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kamya is a former member of the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kamya joined the National Resistance Movement party\u00a0and in 2020 she participated in the flag bearer elections for Lubaga North constituency as a candidate. She won Brian Tindyebwa and Dr. Isaac Lwanga to become the official NRM flag bearer in the 2021 presidential and parliamentary elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the 2021 general elections, Kamya lost the Lubaga<\/a> North parliamentary election to Ababaker Kawalya of the National Unity Platform<\/a> (NUP) a party under the chairmanship of Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Former Lands Minister, Beti Kamya has been appointed the new Inspector General of Government (IGG).
