Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja says that the deadline for sending money to vulnerable people has been extended to Friday, 16th July. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The move is to cater to those who missed out due to technicalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Government is currently distributing a COVID relief package of Shs100k to vulnerable people across the country to help them cope with the effects of the lockdown, put in place to prevent the spread of COVID19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week, officials from the Min\u00adistry of Gen\u00adder, La\u00adbor and So\u00adcial De\u00advel\u00adop\u00adment, told the COVID-19 Task\u00adforce for Par\u00adlia\u00adment, that House\u00adholds count\u00ading on the gov\u00adern\u00adment COVID-19 re\u00adlief fund will have to wait for an\u00adother week to al\u00adlow the gov\u00adern\u00adment to ver\u00adify the data pre\u00adsented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The In\u00adfor\u00adma\u00adtion Com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtions and Tech\u00adnol\u00adogy Of\u00adfi\u00adcer, Em\u00admanuel Yeka at the Min\u00adistry of Gen\u00adder said that they are ag\u00adgre\u00adgat\u00ading the data sub\u00admit\u00adted by town clerks based on lo\u00adca\u00adtion, sex, na\u00adture of work and match the tele\u00adphone num\u00adbers and na\u00adtional ID Num\u00adbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Par\u00adlia\u00admen\u00adtary Task Force on\u00a0COVID19<\/u><\/a>\u00a0chaired by Bug\u00adw\u00aderi County MP Abdu Katuntu was es\u00adtab\u00adlished by\u00a0Par\u00adlia\u00adment<\/u><\/a>\u00a0to among other things look into the high costs of\u00a0COVID19<\/u><\/a>\u00a0treat\u00adment, as\u00adsess the state of health fa\u00adcil\u00adi\u00adties, and Con\u00adduct aware\u00adness sen\u00adsi\u00adti\u00adza\u00adtion coun\u00adtry\u00adwide. The Com\u00admit\u00adtee is ex\u00adpected to at the end of this process, sub\u00admit a re\u00adport to Par\u00adlia\u00adment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, MPs have asked the Premier to present them with the list of beneficiaries so that they can re-verify whether the rightful people are getting the money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We request that the Prime Minister equips us with the list of beneficiaries of this money so that we start a verification in the respective districts,” Cecilia Ogwal said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response, Nabbanja said, “I have the lists of the beneficiaries. This money came from @BOU_Official<\/a> to @postbankug<\/a> then to the telecoms, @mtnug<\/a> and @Airtel_Ug<\/a> onto the beneficiaries.
