Mali\u2019s transitional president and prime minister were detained by soldiers hours after the announcement of a cabinet reshuffle that saw two senior army officers who took part in last year’s coup replaced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Bah Ndaw and Prime Minister Moctar Ouane are reported to have been driven by soldiers to the Kati military camp near the capital, Bamako.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the cabinet reshuffle, former Defence Minister Colonel Sadio Camara and former Security Minister Colonel Modibo Kon\u00e9 were left out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No explanation was given for their exclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their positions were to be taken by Gen Souleymane Dacour\u00e9 and Maj-Gen Mamadou Lamine Diallo respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the influential cabinet members who retained their seats were Lieutenant-Colonel Abdoulaye Maiga at the ministry of territorial administration and decentralisation, and Colonel Isma\u00ebl Wagu\u00e9 at the ministry of national reconciliation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reconstituted cabinet had 25 members, among them four soldiers and four women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the ministry of justice, Doucour\u00e9 Sidi Samak\u00e9 replaced Mohammed Sida Dicko and at the ministry of finance Dionk\u00e9 Diarra replaced Alfousseyni Sanou.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
